1) What is Diabetes?
Diabetes एक ऐसी condition है जिसमें इंसान की body में high blood glucose या high sugar होता है | शरीर में insulin की कमी से या body cells का insulin के प्रति ठीक से respond ना करने की वजह से Diabetes होती है | जब हमारा खाना digest हो जाता है, तो वह glucose में convert हो जाता है जिसे cells- energy और growth के लिए use करते हैं। हालांकि insulin मौजूद न हो तो glucose हमारे cells में प्रवेश नहीं कर पाता है - insulin हमारे cells को खाने में से glucose लेने में मदद करता है |
इसका मतलब यह है की blood में glucose बिना किसी use के मौजूद रहता है जिससे blood sugar level बढ़ जाता है। भारत में यह एक बहुत बड़ी समस्या है। 2019 में लगभग 77 million लोग Diabetes से पीड़ित (diagnosed) थे |

2) What are the different types of Diabetes?
शरीर में insulin की कमी या insulin-resistance हो सकता है | इसके मुताबिक Diabetes को विभिन्न प्रकारों में divide किया जाता है | मुख्य रूप से दो प्रकार होते हैं:
-Type-1: जहाँ external insulin देने की आवश्यकता होती है |
-Type-2: जहाँ insulin को effectively काम करने के लिए दवाइयाँ दी जाती हैं |
-MODY (Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young) or LADA (Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults) बाकी types में आते हैं |
3) What are the symptoms of Diabetes? How can people know that they have Diabetes?
-Diabetes symptoms में ज़्यादा प्यास, भूक और पेशाब होना प्रमुख हैं | ज़्यादातर मामलों में clinical practice में यह पता चलता है कि डायबिटीज के शुरुआती लक्षण बहुत कम दिखते हैं |

-Kidneys और excretory organs भी प्रभावित हो सकते हैं |
-यह नसों को प्रभावित करता है जिसे neuropathy कहते हैं- इससे feeling of sensation जा सकती हैं |
-Urine और skin infection के chances बढ़ सकती है |
-जब Diabetes पैरों को प्रभावित करती है, तो यह ulcer का कारण बन सकती है जिसे ठीक से प्रबंधित न करने पर surgery की आवश्यकता हो सकती है।
