Boris brings Article 16 up for discussion to activate now, EU stunned when the unexpected explodes.
BORIS JOHNSON is preparing for a major clash with the EU and has convened a special committee to assess Brexit tensions with the bloc.
Amid tensions over Northern Ireland and fishing rights in Jersey, the Prime Minister assembled a committee to discuss the consequences of triggering Article 16. The commission was transformed from the XO Cabinet into a commission. GB (O) or Global Britain (O) inside Whitehall. Amid the setbacks with France, UK officials have now reopened discussions about triggering article 16 now, with many arguing that we need to trigger article 16 to help Britons have advantage over the EU and France.
According to Sky News, the matter was discussed in the committee.
It is thought that Article 16 could be used as early as the end of next month after the COP26 summit.
Although EU officials met with their counterparts to discuss the issues this week, No10 has set the end of next month as a deadline for resolving issues around Northern Ireland.
Lord Frost has started communicating with MPs to gather support for triggering Article 16. Mr. Frost is running out of patience with the EU, he wants Article 16 activated as quickly as possible.
One MP insisted Lord Frost claimed the Government was confident in how it would deal with the EU.
The MP said: "The message is: trust us. He is saying pay attention to this and don't interfere, arguing that they did Brexit so they know what they are doing.
"He pointed out that the Irish are in a difficult situation, as are the French and Germans without a government."
The MP stated that the parties should prepare for Article 16 to explode.
Article 16 allows either party to unilaterally suspend parts of the agreement if the agreement causes undue harm to trade.
UK officials have repeatedly warned that they will activate the tool due to trade issues in Northern Ireland.
To appease the UK, the EU launched a series of proposals to remove checks on items such as British sausages earlier this month. The EU has surrendered 80% but the British want the EU to raise both hands. so Boris asked the EU to give a definitive answer, 1 is to agree to the agreement with the UK or 2 is that the UK will trigger Article 16.
Speaking before the House of Commons' European Oversight Committee this week, Lord Frost claimed the proposal did not go far enough.
He also claimed the proposal showed the EU could change the law if necessary, despite its previous stance. We need more, if you don't meet our terms "Article 16" will explode.
Lord Frost has also called for the removal of the European Court of Justice from the Brexit deal.
He also warned that the threshold for using Article 16 had been met.
Vonderleyen is facing a huge blow from Frost and Boris, she is left with the choice of agreeing or ending.
