For a growing number of Australians, these are lonely times. More of us are living alone, and fewer of us are having children. And as a consolation, it seems, increasingly we're turning to our friends. But more and more of our closest mates now have fur and four legs, and we just love them to piece - to the tune of some $2.3 billion a year. Believe it or not, that's more than we as a nation spend on foreign aid. So, we decided it was time to seriously investigate this pampered world of pets to find out exactly where all that money is going.
